St John's Festival of the Arts

Last weekend my Aunt Leigh, Isabel and I were in an art fair for the weekend.

We spent all day Friday setting up our tent and then Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday selling our jewelry and walking around the fair.

We make a wide variety of things, mostly bracelets but also some rings, necklaces, and earrings.

I was so lucky to be there with my best friend Isabel who never fails to make me laugh.

My friend Ian also came and helped us set everything up, it was so awesome of him to stay the whole day Friday to help out and have fun with us.

Isabel and I hung paper cranes that we folded around the tent to add a whimsical and fun touch of color.

There was a bit of down time occasionally where we got to either walk around or just sit and enjoy the park and the nice weather.

The park that the fair was held at was really gorgeous with a paved path, lots of trees and a small pond with a fountain in the front.

We all had great fun hanging out and selling our jewelry that we worked hard to make.

It's always so inspiring to have people come admire your work and comment on how much they like it.

Over all it was a wonderful weekend and I can't wait to do it again next year!

The Adventures of a Thursday Night

I got the chance a few weeks ago to take some pictures for my mom's company and one of the places we took photos had the most amazing view of the Cleveland skyline

That day I also got to hang out with my beautiful friend Liana.  We went exploring in the woods and then we watched the sun set.

I thought this one was interesting, I turned the flash on and shot upwards so that it highlighted the leaves nearest to me.

I love it when the sun peaks through the trees like this.  A friend of mine calls this sun diamonds when you can see the light peaking through the leaves in the woods and I think that is a great way to describe it.

The lake was calm that day and the sky was rather clear.

We saw a few kayakers and it made me wonder if I should take my Aunt up on her offer to take me out kayaking on the lake.  When I was seven I went kayaking on a small lake and got stranded, perhaps it's time for me to face that fear.

Liana and I had our sketchbooks at the lake and it always amazes me to watch other people draw.  (Not to mention, how cute is her short hair?)

This is one of my favorite places in the city to watch the sun set.

The clouds created a compelling effect when the sun went behind them and there were a lot of interesting silhouettes of people around the park.

I recently found this John Lennon quote that I really like;  "When you do something noble and beautiful and nobody notices, do not be sad. For the sun every morning is a beautiful spectacle and yet most of the audience still sleeps."

I hope you all enjoyed looking at my photos as much as I enjoy taking them and I wish you all a wonderful weekend.  Maybe you'll get a chance to marvel at the beauty of the world around you.

The Cleveland Shakespeare Festival

Recently my book club friends and I went to a Shakespeare in the Park showing of A Midsummer Night's Dream.

It was a really gorgeous day and the weather was perfect for the show.

(sometimes I'm convinced my book club is actually a secret gang of book nerds)

It was so much fun to see the actors make the play come to life.  There were only eight actors to play all of the parts but they did a great job of making it seem like there were at least 20 of them!

I had a great time and it sure looked like the actors were having fun, overall the whole thing was a great experience and I'm glad I got to see it.  I hope I get to go to the next one!

I really love hanging out with these girls and I wouldn't trade the memories I make with them for anything in the world.
